Our next block STEP UP Photography course at Photofusion will run for 6 weeks, Tuesdays & Wednesday 10:00am - 2:40pm. Starting October 2025, at Photofusion, Unit 2, 2 Beehive Place, Brixton, SW9 7QR.

Upcoming Day Courses in July!

17/7/25 10:00 - 16:00 Nature Photography Course - a hands-on day with lumen prints, phytograms and cyanotypes.

This creative and accessible course introduces learners to eco-sensitive photographic processes, such as cyanotypes, lumen prints, and phytograms. Participants will collect natural and found materials to create unique, sustainable artworks while exploring the creative potential of light, plants, and alternative techniques. No previous photographic experience required.

Taking place at Photofusion, Unit 2, 2 Beehive Place, Brixton, SW9 7QR - a 2 minute walk from Brixton Station.

24/7/25 10:30 - 16:30 Line & Light - a day of still life drawing and cyanotypes.

This hands-on course begins with a guided drawing session focused on observation, light, and shadow, incorporating mindfulness techniques to support wellbeing. In the afternoon, participants will transform their drawings into cyanotype prints, exploring a hands-on process that combines collage and printmaking. No previous artistic experience required.

This course is in partnership with 198 Contemporary Arts & Learning - taking place at 198 Railton Road, Herne Hill, SE24 0JT - a 2 minute walk from Herne Hill Station


Every academic year we deliver 3 blocks of courses. Our unaccredited courses are designed for Lambeth residents who are 19+, unemployed and looking for work or earning below London Living Wage, outside of formal education or apprentice schemes with qualifications below GCSE.

If you have GCSE or higher qualifications, to be eligible for the course you must meet one of our priority groups below.

Disability or learning difficulty, Mental health difficulty, Care leaver, Carer of adult dependants, Homeless or in temporary accommodation, Lone parent, Somali, Latin American (Spanish or Portuguese speaking).

The programme is funded by the Greater London Authority (GLA) and quality-assured by Lambeth Council’s Adult Learning Service.

The courses allow learners to take part in practical workshops and mentoring to develop new skills whilst networking with peers and invited industry professionals. Photofusion’s STEP UP Photography courses offer an introduction to studio lighting; flash and continuous, DSLR and analogue cameras and darkroom printing.

In 2023 and 2024 we showcased our LAL current learners and alumni in an exhibition to celebrate the wonderful work produced during and after the course.

The next Beginner’s STEP UP Photography course will start on Tuesday 6th May - Wednesday 18th June. This will take place every Tuesday and Wednesday, with a week break from Monday 26th May.
